Why exact matching misses duplicates
The same business shows up as "Summit Ridge Plumbing" in one list and "Summit Ridge Plumbing, LLC" in another, with https://www.summitridgeplumbing.com/ in one row and summitridgeplumbing.com in the next. A spreadsheet's "remove duplicates" treats those as different. This tool normalizes each key before comparing:
- Domain: lowercased, without
http(s)://,www., paths or query strings. Shared hosts like facebook.com or google.com are ignored, since many businesses link there. - Phone: digits only, with a leading US country code 1 dropped from 11-digit numbers. Numbers shorter than 7 digits are ignored.
- Name + city: lowercased, punctuation removed, and endings like LLC, Inc, Co and Ltd dropped. Only used when both name and city are present.
Rows are grouped transitively: if row A shares a phone with B, and B shares a domain with C, all three are one business.
